Demonstration of mechanical-electrical trials on photovoltaic modules carried out by technicians of the Supsi-Isaac research centre

The ISAAC institute has over twenty-five years of experience in PV module testing and since 2001 it has an ISO 17025 accreditation for performance measurements of PV modules. The institute disposes of indoor testing facilities as well as outdoor test stands equipped with maximum power point trackers.
PV module performance, lifetime and security are verified by means of submitting the different climatic, mechanical and electrical tests. The tests equipments installed in our laboratories enable the ISAAC to cover the complete range of testing for PV modules according to the three presently relevant International standards: IEC – EN 61215 c -Si terrestrial PV modules (design qualification and type approval of crystalline PV modules) IEC – EN 61646 thin film terrestrial PV modules (design qualification and type approval of thin film PV modules) IEC – EN 61730-2 safety testing and security tests. The combined IEC 61215 (or IEC 61646) and IEC 61730 certification allows to verify both the lifetime and the safety aspects. All tests are established for modules up to 2.3 x 3.0 meters. The tests centre is ISO 17025 certified. On request the product certification EN 45011 is issued in collaboration with SGS-TÜV.
